The Fourth Session of the India-Poland Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation was held in Warsaw on June 15, 2015 under the umbrella of the Agreement on Economic Cooperation between Poland and India, signed on 19th May, 2006 in Warsaw.
The delegation of India was led by H.E. Mr. Amitabh Kant, Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The delegation of Poland was led by H.E. Mr. Jerzy Witold Pietrewicz, State Secretary for Economy, Ministry of Economy.
The main topic was focused on bilateral trade between both countries and perspectives of its development.
Both sides further agreed that companies and business organizations (chambers and associations) interested in launching new business initiatives within these and other areas of cooperation would receive adequate support and assistance from respective governmental institutions and agencies.
Sectors of especially big development potential for cooperation: IT/ICT, coal, food processing, power & energy, petrochemical, chemical, science & technology.
The Indian side informed about the recent launch of the ‘Make in India’ initiative to make India a global manufacturing hub. This is a major drive to foster innovation, enhance skill development, protect intellectual property and build best-in-class manufacturing infrastructure.
